LEGAL EXPERIENCE
Lydia obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law and was called to the Alberta bar in 2019. She practiced family law for 3 years in Edmonton and then was called to the Ontario bar in 2022. She joined Duplain Law in January 2023 and is pleased to continue practicing family law in the National Capital Region.
Lydia enjoys working to protect people’s rights and advance their interests. She is able to help clients navigate the legal system and ensure that they achieve a just outcome. She is a strong advocate for her clients in court and has experience with a broad range of family law issues including those relating to matrimonial property, parenting, decision-making, spousal support, child support, and protection against family violence. She has conducted trials, questionings, settlement meetings, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
Lydia holds herself to a high standard to get results for her clients efficiently and skillfully. She also prides herself on being approachable and a good listener to her clients. She takes care to get to know her clients’ objectives and values, and to communicate regularly on the progress of their case. She is thorough in her legal analysis and keeps herself up-to-date on the most recent changes to relevant statutory law and case law.
